Thomas, David Lee's Obituary
The Legacy of David "PEP" Thomas "I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" II Timothy 4:7 On September 6, 1947, David "Pep" Thomas was born in Hurtsboro, Alabama to Oscar and Katie Lee Thomas. He attended Russell County Public Schools. While in Alabama, he became a self-taught mechanic, fixing anything he could put his hands on. He relocated to Orlando, Florida in the 6o's where he continued to use his mechanical skills to fix anything and anybody's automobile for whatever they could afford to pay. He held a regular job as a mechanic as well. His love for working with his hands was surpassed only by his love for children, not just his children but everybody's children. On December 30, 2014, when his light began to dim, the Lord said come home with me my dear child. The room illuminated because Jesus himself came and welcomed His child home. David was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings. He leaves rejoicing in his love two sons: Cleavdon (Tyshunda) Thomas, Hurtsboro, and David Thomas,Jr., Orlando; four daughters: Carolyn (Mac) Puckett & Cathleen Foster, both of Hurtsboro; Gloria Thomas, Hatchechubbee, Alabama and Angella (Richard) Davis, Orlando; four sisters: Carrie (Elmo) Harris, Luevalle Fluellen, Celia (Leon) Puckett, & Ethel Thomas, all of Hurtsboro; four brothers: Oscar Thomas,Jr., Charlie (Deonie) Thomas, & John (Carolyn) Thomas of Hurtsboro, & Willie (Betty) Thomas, Orlando; two aunts: Izella Lane, Montgomery, Alabama & Gurdia Moses, Detroit, Michigan; two uncles: Marcus King, Hatchechubbee, & Matthew Tolbert, Gary, Indiana; one sister-in-law: Rosie Thomas, Hurtsboro, twenty three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren a host of other relatives and friends.
