Ora Lee Dix's Obituary
Sister Ora Lee Dix departed this life on Monday, August 15, 2022, at her home, surrounded by friends and family.
She was born December 21, 1939, in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to the late Athel Lee Lindsay and Lee Andrew Lindsay. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church Wende in Hurtsboro. There she was recognized as the "Mother of the Church." She was retired from Wildwood Manor Nursing Home, Gary, Indiana.
In 1957, Ora Lee married the late Roosevelt Dix, who preceded her in death, and they had seven children: Alvester Dix-Walker, Merrillville, Indiana; Athel Lee Dix, Gary, Indiana; Roosevelt (Felicia) Dix, Hurtsboro; Terri Dix-Simmons, Hurtsboro; Alvin Dix, Covington, Georgia; Rose (Marshall) Dix-Randolph, Phenix City, Alabama; and John (Toree) Dix, Whitestown, Indiana.
Ora Lee was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Lindsay, and three sisters: Odell Lindsay-Fulton, Annie Ruth Lindsay-Chappell, and Lucille Lindsay.
She also leaves to cherish her memories five sisters: Mattie Walton, Lima, Ohio; Fannie Davis, Minnie Nelson, Christine Upshaw, and Margie (Robert) Brundidge, all of Hurtsboro; two brothers: Eddie Lindsay, Phenix City, Alabama; and Lee Andrew (Martha) Lindsay, Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
