Monroe "Toenail" Crawford Jr was born on June 12, 1944, in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to Monroe Crawford Sr and Rena Bell Crawford, who preceded him in death. Monroe passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, in Brookhaven, Georgia.Monroe relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, at a young age, where he graduated from Dunbar High School. He is survived by two daughters: Felecia Lawson (Antonio) of Fairburn, Georgia, and Barbara Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, Keaton Crawford (Lashanda) of Riverdale, Georgia; one step-daughter, Sharee Daniels of Fort Myers, Florida. He is also survived by one sister, Eula Mae Phillips of Hurtsboro, Alabama, and one brother, Mathis Crawford of Buffalo, New York. Monroe is remembered fondly by eight grandchildren: Jontavious Pruitt, Jynequa Babolal, Kiera Crawford, Ira Shaw, Derrick Hallman, Lei'Mesha Shaw, Wolf Shaw, and Kyla Crawford, as well as nine great- grandchildren. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.Monroe was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert Crawford, Arthur Crawford, Bradford Crawford, and Ruben Crawford, as well as five sisters: Ophelia Crawford, Bernice Lindsay, Martha Campbell, Patricia Brown, and Sally Pollard. Additionally, two grandsons, Ky'Andre Shaw and Sunny Shaw, also preceded him in death.
