Joe Lewis Upshaw was born on June 4, 1940, to the late Alethia Miller and Clinton Upshaw in Rutherford, Alabama.
He was educated in the Russell County, Alabama, School System. Mr. Upshaw confessed Christ in life and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church in Hurtsboro, Alabama, under the pastoral care of Pastor Troy Clark.
Joe Lewis Upshaw transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Nolan Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Deloris France, Columbus, Georgia; one brother, Clinton Upshaw, Jr., Lima, Ohio; two sisters: Leola Alfred and Diane Russell, both of Lima, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
