James Jerome Davis' Obituary
James Jerome Davis was born December 28, 1957, in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to Robert L. Davis and Henrietta R. Davis. He exchanged time for eternity on August 20, 2023. James was a faithful member of Allen Chapel C.M.E. Church, Gary, Indiana, for many years and served in various capacities in the church. He graduated from Russell High School in Hurtsboro with Honors in 1976. He retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana, after 30 years of service in 2006. James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Henrietta Davis; brother, Lee Ernest Davis; sister, Marlinda Davis; niece, Tungi A. Carey; nephew, Ladarryl J. Davis; and great-nephew, Marshen Davis. His life can be characterized as a go-getter." He loved planning trips, going on cruises, meeting people, telling jokes, and attending family/class reunions. He leaves to cherish fond memories three brothers: Robert (Eleanor) Davis, Johnny (Mildred) Davis, and Lester Davis, all of Gary, Indiana; one sister, Glenda Carey, Merrillville, Indiana; two aunts: Tempie Ivey and Lillie Womack, both of Columbus, Georgia; one uncle, Willie B. Harris, Safety Harbor, Florida; sister-in-law, Jessie Davis, Gary, Indiana. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, step-daughters, step-grandchildren, loved ones and friends.
