Gloria Jean Harris' Obituary
Mrs. Gloria J. Harris gained her heavenly wings and transitioned to her resting place on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Columbus, Georgia.
She was born to the late Joe Bowens, Sr., and Georgia Mae Brannon Bowens on September 8, 1964, in Hurtsboro, Alabama. She was a graduate of the Russell County High School in Hurtsboro. She confessed her belief in Jesus Christ and joined the Friendship Baptist Church. She later transferred membership to the Nero Baptist Church, Hurtsboro, Alabama, the church where her husband is a member.
"Bennie," as she was affectionately known, was a loving and caring person. Once you met her, you were a friend for life. She possessed a very kind spirit.
Sister Harris was preceded in death by both parents and a son, Verdell. God relieved her from all illness, pain and sorrow and granted her eternal rest.
Those who will cherish her purposeful life are her husband, Bill Harris, and daughter, LaTaurus Harris, of Hurtsboro; a son, Tony Harris, Columbus, Georgia, and step-son, Eric (Mary) Cochran, Phenix City, Alabama; three sisters: Tammy (Jeffrey) Williams, San Antonio, Texas; Cozella Bowens, Phenix City, and Dorothy (Charles) Mitchell, Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers: Albert Bowens, Hurtsboro, and Joe (Connie) Bowens, Jr., Abilene, Texas; two aunts, one uncle, 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and host of other relatives and friends.
