Mrs. Dorothy Lee Smith, affectionately known as "Shane," 71, of Hurtsboro, Alabama passed Sunday, January 8, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama.
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Smith will be held at 12:00 Noon, Central Standard Time, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Shady Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, with interment to follow at Shady Grove Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 P.M. CST until 6:00 P.M. CST on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Stovall Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, Hurtsboro, Alabama, (334) 667-7679.
Mrs. Smith was born April 15, 1945 in Russell County, Alabama, to Roosevelt Smith and Rosie Lee Davis Fluellen. Both parents and a brother, Willie Fluellen, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters: Cassandra Smith and Linda Horace of Phenix City, Alabama and Betty Smith of Hurtsboro, Alabama; one son, Bernard Horace, Detroit, Michigan; three brothers: John W. (Teresa) Fluellen, Jr., Oscar C. (Shirley) Fluellen, and Johnny Fluellen, all of Detroit, Michigan; six sisters: Bertha Horace of Hurtsboro, Alabama, Alberta Jones, Julia Williams, Christine (Douglas) Brown, and Sadie Hubbard, all of Detroit, and Jessie (Levon) Johnson of Southfield, Michigan; five grandchildren: Katrice (Carlose) Walker of Hurtsboro, Carmeletta (Mario) Johnson and Walter Levert Tyner of Detroit, Michigan, Zy'Quasha Horace and Jada Ford of Phenix City, Alabama; five great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Lee Walker of Hurtsboro, Latrelle Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Brent Johnson, Jasmine Johnson, and Mario Johnson, Jr., all of Detroit, Michigan; a very special niece, Glenda Smith, and a very special and loyal cousin, Frank Tyner, Jr.
