Obituary for Julia Mae Thomas
Mrs. Julia Mae Luke Thomas was born August 30, 1952 to the late Ellis Sr. and Irene Luke in Russell County, Alabama.
Julia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united in fellowship at the Pine Level A.M.E. Zion Church in Uchee, Alabama. She was a very faithful member. She served in a number of capacities, including President of the Women's home & Overseas Missionary Society, Class Leader, Member of the Trustee Board, and Choir Member.
Julia was a caring mother, a loving wife, and a doting grandmother. Spending time with family and friends was her favorite thing to do. She delighted in preparing and sharing meals with them, as her warm hearted hospitality was one of her distinguishing character traits. Julia's laughter and infectious smile displayed the joy that life afforded her. She cherished her role as the Matriarch of her family and the wisdom that she shared will be forever treasured.
On Saturday, May1, 2021 Julia left her earthly home for her Heavenly Home for eternal life. She was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her brothers, Reuben Luke, Ellis Luke, Jr., Isaiah Luke and James Luke.
Julia's love and memories will be forever cherished by her husband of 49 years, Jimmie Lee Thomas; three sons: Christopher (Chamika) Thomas, Brian (Linda) Thomas, and Dwane (Cassie) Thomas; a daughter, Vanessa Scott; six grandchildren: Quanah Thomas, Jermel Scott, I'yhania Thomas, Ju'Von Thomas, Sania Thomas, and Zi'Asia Thomas; three sisters: Hattie Luke, Brenda Washington, and Alice (Theodis) Thomas; two brothers: Jim Luke and Johnny Luke; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends that will forever treasure her memories.
