Obituary for Betty Henderson
Mrs. Betty J. Henderson, of Hurtsboro, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Piedmont Regional Hospital, in Columbus, Georgia.
Betty Henderson was a beautiful spirit born on April 8, 1944, to Lucy Rias in Hurtsboro, Alabama. She was a member of the graduating Class of 1963 at the Russell County Training School in Hurtsboro, Alabama. After graduation she moved north to Detroit, Michigan.
Upon her return to Hurtsboro, she united with the First Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed spending her days at the Hurtsboro Senior Center, which she did daily until her health declined.
On Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Piedmont Regional Hospital the Lord closed Betty's eyes, quieted her voice, and called her home. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Katherine Rias-Goodwin, and two brothers, Arthur Rias and Leon Rias.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son: Tommie Henderson, Detroit, Michigan; three sisters: Rose Gary, Columbus, Georgia; Lucille Castro, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Drucilla (Tyrone) McKissick, Phenix City, Alabama; and one brother, Willie J. Rias, Columbus, Georgia,
In keeping with her wishes, her final disposition will be cremation. A memorial service in her honor will be held at a date yet to be determined.
