Obituary for Theodis Covington,Jr.
Theodis Covington, Jr., was born on January 18, 1948, in Bullock County, Alabama, to the late Theodis Covington, Sr., and Julia Lee Tolbert.
He confessed Christ as his personal Savior early in life and united with the St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Hurtsboro, Alabama. He attended the Russell County Training School in Hurtsboro. He worked for Walker-Williams Lumber Company in Hatchechubbee, Alabama, as a truck driver until his health began to decline. He enjoyed watching the Auburn Tigers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was predeceased by both his parents, one sister, Josephine Tolbert, and one daughter, Tre-Niece E. Covington.
On the evening of November 30, 2021, God mercifully and tenderly whispered for Theodis Covington, Jr., to lay down his burdens to study war no more and come on home to receive Heaven’s reward. Theodis believed in helping others in any way he could. He was also free spirited, loved, and a great friend to many, as well as a devoted and loving father, brother, and grandfather.
Those who will cherish his purposeful life are: his son, Marvin T. Palmore Covington, Tampa, FL; two daughters: Denise (Henry) Covington, Hurtsboro; and Michelle Covington, Tampa; five stepchildren: Saminthia A. Jackson, Robert Palmore, Andre Palmore, and Felecia Jackson, all of Florida; and Christopher Brown, New Jersey; two sisters: Mary A. Rogers and Ruby (M.C.) Marion, both of Hurtsboro; four brothers: Clemmie L. Covington, Phenix City, AL; Willie (Vivian) Covington, Hurtsboro; Ira (Thelma) Covington, Opelika, AL; and Johnny (Shirley) Covington, Hurtsboro; six grandchildren: Roderick D. Baker, Marcia T. Palmore, Marvin Palmore, Jr., Dashearia J. Phillips, and Terrianna K. Palmore, of Florida; and Dale’Sya T. Grant, Hurtsboro; six greatgrandchildren; two aunts: Rosie L. Berry and Bernice (William) Davis, both of Hurtsboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
