Obituary for Ruthie L. Cook
Sister Ruthie L. Cook was born September 5, 1942 to the late Charlie Mellion, Sr., and Eva Bell Mellion in Pittsview, Alabama.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church in Pittsview, Alabama. She later joined the St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served as an Usher until her health began to fail. She was also a member of the Elizabeth Chapter #794, Order of Eastern Star Glenville, where she served as the Treasurer.

As a young lady she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Lee Lewis Truttling, and this union was blessed with five children. In 1975, Ruthie married David Cook, Jr.

Ruthie loved quilting and fishing, and her life was characterized by her generosity. She was the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She was adored by many and will be missed by all that knew her.

She departed this life on Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Ms. Cook was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She leaves to cherish her fond memories five sons: Lee Truttling Jr. and Mathew (Marion) Truttling of Pittsview, Alabama; Augustus Truttling, Phenix City, Alabama; Theodore (Donnie) Cook, Huntsville, Alabama; and Wade (Debbie) Jenrett, Salem, Alabama; two daughters: Margaret Scott, Columbus, Georgia, and Lillie Mae (Valton) Wright, Coco, Florida; two brothers: Charlie Lee (Linda) Mellion, Pittsview, Alabama, and Johnny Lee (Vickie) Mellion, West Palm Beach, Florida; one uncle, Johnny (spouse) Peterson, Fort Myers, Florida, a devoted niece, Estelle (Donnie, Sr.) Mitchell, Pittsview, Alabama, twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
