Obituary for Ethel Nell Wilson
A page turned, a chapter completed, a battle fought, a victory won, a life’s book closed.
Ethel Nell Wilson was born September 4, 1940 to Carrie Lee Jernigan and Jesse Rowell in Hurtsboro, Alabama.
She received her formal education at the Russell County Training School in Hurtsboro. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church and was also an active participant at St. Paul A.M.E Church in Hurtsboro, where she served until her health declined.
She was predeceased by both of her parents; five sisters: Jessie L. Crawford, Rose Sanders, Naomi Thomas, Lucille Goshay, and Earnestine Davis; and one brother, Edgar J. Rowell.
On September 5, 2021, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, God in His infinite wisdom and power called Ethel Nell Wilson home to rest.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving daughter, Debra Smith, Conley, GA; a loving son, Cornelius Relf, Riverdale, GA; one sister, Mattie (John) Pollard, Fayetteville, NC; one brother, Jimmy (Louise) Rowell, Jacksonville, FL; two nieces: Pat (Greg) Goodwin, Hurtsboro, AL, and Connie King, Phenix City, AL; a cousin, Bobbie Perry, Hurtsboro, AL; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
