Obituary for Davis, Henrietta
Henrietta Relf Davis was born December 20, 1927 in Gordonville, Alabama. She was a resident of Hurtsboro, Alabama and for the last 2 _ years of Crowne Health Care Center in Eufaula, Alabama. She exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Henrietta was a faithful member of Ross Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church for many years where she served as a Stewardess. She was preceded in death by parents, Jonas and Tempie Relf, her husband, Robert L. Davis Sr., a son, Lee Ernest Davis, a granddaughter, Tungi Adele Carey, a grandson, LaDarryl Davis, and a great-grandson, Marshen Davis. Henrietta was a devoted mother, an avid gardener, a great cook, who loved quilting and on many occasions you could hear her singing gospel songs around the house as she worked. Her favorite songs were "The Lord is Blessing Me" and "When God's Children Get Together." Henrietta leaves to cherish fond memories four sons: Robert L. (Eleanor) Davis Jr., Johnny L. (Mildred) Davis, Lester Davis, and James Davis, all of Gary, Indiana; two daughters: Glenda Carey of Merrillville, Indiana and Marlinda Davis of Gary, Indiana; one brother, Sam Relf of Hurtsboro; four sisters: Callie Relf of Hurtsboro, Mary Jackson of Merrillville, Tempie Ivey and Lillie Womack both of Columbus, Georgia; a special niece, Denise (Jobe) Phillips, Phenix City, Alabama; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Jessie Davis of Gary, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Willie (Gussie) Harris of Safety Harbor, Florida; two sisters-in-law: Juanita Relf, Columbus, Georgia and Louella Holmes of Hurtsboro; two special friends: Carrie Brannon and Adella Brown of Hurtsboro; along with a host of nephews, nieces, other loved ones and friends. The family of Ms. Henrietta Davis wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the care provided to our loved one by Crowne Health Care Center, Dr. Melvin Oakley, the C-Wing staff, the many nurses, and Hospice for their compassionate care.
