Obituary for Bryant Tinsley
Joseph Tensley Sr And Mittie L. Jones were blessed with their “knee baby” Bryant Tinsley on Feb. 19, 1937 in Midway, AL. He met the love of his life Essie L. Fitzgerald in Rochester, NY and they married October 21, 1955. To this union four children were born, Bruce, Wayne, Margenell and Stafford. They relocated to Orlando, FL. In 1956. After witnessing his wife join the Mount Sinai Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1958, he decided to study for himself which day was the Sabbath and after his diligent research of the Bible, he later also joined the church. After joining the church, he witnessed to his family of his new found faith and many of them became Seventh Day Adventists. Throughout the years he continued to be a faithful worker in the church functioning in many capacities including an Ordained Elder.
Bryant was very family oriented and a hard worker. Even though not formally trained in construction, Bryant was a skilled worker with his hands, known as a Jack of all trades and commonly called “Mr. Perfect”. In 1965, he began working at Sears and Roebuck, where he retired in 1991. In 1995 Bryant and Essie relocated to Notasulga, AL with plans to spend his retirement years in the state of his birth. While in Notasulga, he continued to be a servant of the Lord who diligently worked in bringing souls to Christ. He patterned his life after The Savior going about doing good for others including ministering at Nursing Homes and conducting a prayer line ministry. Later in life, he and Essie resided with their son, Wayne (Georgia) in Gibson, N.C. for a few years before relocating to Orlando, Fl. Eventually they returned to his home state of Ala. He enjoyed whistling, singing, writing poetry, hunting and fishing.
Bryant Tinsley went to sleep on March 19, 2016 at Southern Springs Health & Rehab in Union Springs, Ala. And awaits the call of His Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Essie L. Tinsley , 4 children, Bruce (Mary)Tinsley, Wayne (Georgia) Tinsley, Margenell Tinsley-Thomas, Stafford (Gail) Tinsley , 7 grandchildren , 14 great grand children, 5 sisters, Sarah Smith, Pearl (Willie) Kidd, Rosie Cliatt, Gloria (Richard) Felson, Essie (Kenneth) Lindsay, 1 sister in law, Mary Steel Tinsley and a host of other relatives and friends.
