Obituary for Averett, Lillie
Mrs. Lillie Averett was born on Friday, June 3, 1939 to Henry and Martha Ann Marion in Hurtsboro, Alabama. She confessed her belief in Jesus the Christ and united with the St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Hurtsboro, and later joined Hurts Chapel A.M.E. Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Tommy Person. She sang in the choir at St. Paul and was also a foster grandparent at the Edelman Center. She departed this life for her heavenly home on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Hamilton House Nursing Center in Columbus, Georgia. Sister Lillie Averett was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha Ann Marion, one daughter, Essie (Penny) Chatman, and one sister, Ethel Shoulder. She leaves to cherish her memories as she enters into the joy of the Lord one daughter, Debra Jones, Columbus, Georgia;five sisters; Fannie Taylor, Ft. Myers, FL., Jessie (Bobby) Toombs, Mattie (Charlie) Richardson, Lula (Ricky) Seals, and Alice (Eddie) Mahone, all of Columbus, Ga., six brothers; John Henry (Dorothy) Marion and Samuel (Mary) Marion, both of Ft. Myers, FL., Tommy Marion, Columbus, Ga., M.C. (Ruby) Marion, Hurtsboro, AL., Jesse Johnson, Ft. Myers, FL., and Isiah Peterson, East Chicago, IN., a devoted grand-daughter, Dawania Chatman, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
