Our story
Located in Hurtsboro, Alabama, adjacent to Bullock, Barbour, Lee and Macon counties in Alabama, and Muscogee County in Georgia, Stovall Funeral Home was established by Cam Stovall in 1928. After his death in 1943 his wife Alice Stovall took over the business until her passing in 1953. Their son Turner Stovall would inherit the business and operate it with his wife Mary-Kate Stovall until his untimely passing in 1966, after which his wife took the reins and grew the business while also becoming the first Black Woman elected Mayor in the state of Alabama in 1984. Even after being elected mayor, she still ran the business until 2014 when she stepped down and turned over the business to her daughter Kathleen who presently manages the business along with her son Royce Stovall. The business has now been serving the Hurtsboro and Russell County communities for over 95 years and is still owned and operated by the same family. At a time when many funeral homes are being bought and sold by large corporations and conglomerates, Stovall Funeral Home prides itself on being family owned and operated.
Our family at Stovall Funeral Home realizes the depths of compassion and integrity needed to help families at their time of loss. Being a funeral director has always been more a calling than a profession. Stovall Funeral Home has complete confidence that every last detail will be handled with care and compassion. You will always work with a licensed funeral director, not just an employee.
We focus on personal services and family values instead of focusing on profit margins and contract averages.
